The brain neuroimaging studies for the patients with dementia seem to be helpful to diagnose with high accuracy, to diagnose in very early stages, to distinguish Alzheimer¡¯s dementia from other causes of dementia and psychiatric illness, and to monitor treatment efficacy reliably and meaningfully.
However, combination of structural and functional neuroimaging studies and biochemical markers can contribute to more accurate and earlier diagnosis of dementias. Otherwise, various update imaging techniques focusing on the dementia-relevant substances have been recently developed.
